Today I had the honour of being nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award by Nancy Mulligan of My Every Day Challenges, thank you so much Nancy! The Sunshine Blogger Award is given by bloggers to other bloggers, and if you’re chosen, that means that your nominator thinks your blog is positive, creative and inspiring. So congratulations to all of the nominees, and seriously, check out Nancy’s awesome blog!
So, what is the Sunshine Blogger Award? Well, your nominator will give you 11 questions to answer, and in return, you nominate 11 bloggers that you think deserve it and ask them your own set of questions. Simple, right? Nope! I have been thinking of how to answer my questions and what questions I should ask in return all day! It’s much harder than you’d think!
Okay, so, the rules:
- Thank the blogger who nominated you in your blog post and link back to their blog (thanks again, Nancy!)
- Answer the 11 questions that the blogger asked you.
- Nominate 11 bloggers to receive the award and write them 11 questions.
- List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post.
And now, onto the questions!
What’s the best/worst practical joke that you’ve played on someone or that was played on you?
Okay, so this one is both the best and the worst practical joke that has been played on me, and it involves my two lovely, lovely sisters when we were young kids. We had been holidaying in Darwin, Australia and were making the long road trip back home. It was hot, the car was cramped, I was hungry, and my sisters were picking on me – it’s safe to say I was pretty darn miserable. I was complaining about being hungry, so my sisters thought it would be a great idea to give me a lolly, and sure, it would have been great – if the lolly wasn’t actually a crayon. I swear I can still taste it when I think about it. But the joke’s on them, though, because right after I’d eaten the crayon, I had my first convulsion and scared the crap out of my sisters and my parents.
What “old person” things do you do?
I don’t think there are actually a lot of “old person” things that I do! One that comes to mind is how much I complain about being old, that’s something that old people do, right? I love to sit down with a good book, I complain about the lights being left on. That’s all I’ve got!
What’s the most expensive thing you’ve broken?
So despite being the clumsiest person out there, I haven’t broken anything expensive before! Except the countless, poor phones that I’ve managed to continuously drop…
What obstacles would be included in the World’s most amazing obstacle course?
The first thing that comes to mind is bears and wolves that you have to get around, a gigantic slippery wall that you have to climb your way up and some sort of slime pool you have to swim your way through… that sounds pretty amazing to me.
What makes you roll your eyes every time you hear it?
Every time I say “you’re the best” to my husband, he sings “aroooound, nothing’s ever gonna keep you down!” and it drives me batty!
What do you think you are much better at than you actually are?
I think that would easily be my sense of humour – I think I’m hilarious, but I’m pretty sure all of my jokes are actually rather lame!
What’s the craziest conversation you’ve ever heard?
Can this include the craziest conversation I’ve seen? Because this would be every single conversation that has happened in the MH Crisis Angels group chat – the Angels are complete loons and they have my sides splitting with laughter with every conversation. They are an amazing bunch of people, though!
What’s the hardest you’ve ever worked?
Honestly, the first thing that comes to my mind for this question is the entirety of this last year. I’ve had a really hard time accepting my mental illnesses, accepting my past and past trauma, learning who I am and what I want to do with my life and making progress to become somebody who is able to live by my core values and not be haunted by my demons. It’s been such a tough journey, but I’m working extremely hard at coming out the other side of it.
What movie, picture, or video always makes you laugh no matter how often you watch it?
A Very Potter Musical! I love it so, so much and it cheers me up whenever I watch it, my gosh, is it funny! And also… some might find me strange for it… but this. It is quite honestly the best thing I’ve ever seen, and it no doubt makes me laugh every time.
What artist or band do you always recommend when someone asks for a music recommendation?
There can never be just one artist/band that I recommend, there’s so many good ones out there! I generally like to listen to music that has meaning behind the lyrics, though, and Disturbed write some truly wonderful songs. And then there’s Breaking Benjamin, who are amazing. And The Amity Affliction – their lyrics are great as well. Or if they fancy something softer, I love Josh Groban at the moment. Seriously, check out his song, River – pure amazingness!
If you could have an all-expenses paid trip to see any famous world monument, which monument would you choose?
I’m not really sure if it’s a monument, but I would really love to go and see the Anne Frank House, I think it would be so fascinating and it’s always been a dream of mine to go.
Now, my questions for my nominees:
- Why do you blog?
- What is the best and worst purchase you’ve ever made?
- What is your favourite thing about yourself?
- If you could spend a day in someone else’s shoes, who would it be and why?
- What’s one of your favourite memories?
- What’s your favourite blog post that you’ve written and why?
- What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
- What qualities do you value in the people you spend time with?
- What is the most annoying habit that other people have?
- What is your favourite place that you’ve visited?
